ASIAN JUSTICE RALLY: JUSTICE FOR AAPI WOMEN
One Year after the Atlanta AAPI Shooting
The Atlanta Asian Justice Rally Coalition (the “Coalition”) is a collective of non-profit organizations and community partners working to mourn for the victims of the March 16, 2021 shooting, stand in solidarity, and demand more attention to Anti-Asian discrimination and violence.
On the one-year anniversary of the Atlanta AAPI Shooting, the Coalition is hosting a Stop Asian Hate Rally in Liberty Plaza adjacent to the State of Georgia Capitol, in Atlanta, Georgia on March 16, 2022, on the one year anniversary of the Atlanta Spa shootings, which took the lives of 8 people, including 6 Asian American women.
We are expecting to hear from community organizers, leaders, and elected officials during the event. Supporting organizations include:
- Center for Pan Asian Community Services
- National Association Of Asian American Professionals – Atlanta (NAAAP Atlanta)
- Georgia Asian Pacific American Bar Association (GAPABA)
- Korean American Coalition – Atlanta
- NACA – National Association of Chinese Americans
- The People’s Uprising
- Asian Pacific Institute on Gender-Based Violence
- Atlanta Korean American Committee Against Asian Hate
- APAs vs. Hate
The event will focus on drawing attention to federal, state, and local efforts to address this rise in hate crime and to build racial solidarity in our community against all acts of racism. The 3/16 date is important to Asian Americans across the United States as the turning point to speak out as a community to stop the violence. This rally also serves a reminder of the long history of hate, violence discrimination, inequality, and injustice that the AANHPI community have faced in this country. As a collective, the Coalition supports the message of breaking the silence, standing in solidarity with other marginalized communities, and strive for political voice/community power.
